As one of the leading organizations of the country, Sampurna firmly believes that women can be catalysts and agents of social change. We strive to overcome the prejudice of gender bias. However, we recognize that ensuring a gender equitable society means tackling a multitude of complex psychological, socio-cultural and economic issues at the same time. It requires participation from family, neighbourhood and society. It would not be an exaggeration to say that male counterparts have to come forward to bring the desired change in the mindset. Raja Ram Mohan Roy, as the crusader of eradication of Sati Pratha and promoting girl education, signifies the fact that how crucial is the role of male members in setting the Narrative. For nearly three decades, Sampurna has been a leader in India’s women-centric approach to community development due to its unique, two- fold position: (a) as an experienced facilitator of grassroot programmes and (b) as a leader of research-based projects on wide spread social issues. Some of our key areas of work include but are not limited to: violence against women and children, women security and safety, inclusive education, health care provisions, sanitation and cleanliness drive. At present Sampurna is slowly shifting its focus from its long-term working field of community development to a more extensive canvas of social issues and finding their solutions by going nationwide.
